Services
Meals on Wheels
Homebound
meals are available seven days a week to older adults 60+ and to
people with disabilities living in Independence Township or Clarkston.
Please call 248-625-8231 for details. This program is provided
by the Older Persons’ Commission through a government grant with the
Area Agency on Aging 1B.
Site Lunches at Noon
We are serving a made-from-scratch lunch prepared by our senior
center staff every Thursday unless indicated on the schedule. OPC
will be providing the milk, bread, and fruit. The donation cost will
be $6.00 per person payable that day. Call the Center to make a
reservation for lunch no later than 5:00 PM on the Monday preceding
the scheduled date.

Outreach
For information on housing for
seniors, in-home care, Medicare, prescription coverage including the new
Medicare medical plans, health care and other services for older adults, call
Theresa at 248-625-8231 Ext 17. She will also do home visits, if requested.

Bereavement Group
Informal sharing meeting with a Bereavement Counselor from Lewis E. Wint & Son Funeral Home.
This free support group for men and women of all ages meets on the
second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Carriage House.

Legal Consultation
Attorney Dana Wilson provides private
consultations at the senior center on the fourth Monday of the month
at 1:00 PM. If you need assistance with legal problems or if you
have legal questions, call the center for a 15-20 minute appointment.
Low Vision Support Group
This group meets monthly for
socialization, education, and to promote improvements in our community
for the visually impaired. Call the senior center to make a
reservation for the next meeting and lunch.
Minor Home Repair Program
The Township has funds available to
help low income households to complete repairs of no more than $5,000
for a single residence. The repairs can include replacing
furnaces, water heaters, roofs, gutters, and many other minor repairs.

Visiting Podiatrist
Dr. Bruce Tabak, D.P.M., comes to the Senior Center once a month to
provide basic nail care, trimming, treatment of ingrown nailes,
calluses, corns, and pressure sores plus more complicated problems.
HMO's are not accepted. If you are unsure of your insurance
coverage, call Dr. Tabak's office at (248)628-1880. Call the
Activity Center to schedule an appointment time.
