Board of Review
Board of Review Structure
The Board of Review consists of three persons appointed by the
Township Board, Board of Review members serve two-year terms
starting on January 1 of each odd-numbered year. Members of a
Township Board of review must be voters of the township, at least 18
years old, a U.S. citizen, and must have lived in the township for
at least 30 days. They may not be an assessor's relative.
There are no statutory requirements regarding skills, training or
experience that members must meet. Board members should be
citizens interested in the public good, to the goal of fair, just
and equitable property tax administration.
Our 2010 Board of Review members are Henry Hogan, Terry Haran,
and Susan Aulgur. Mr. Hogan is a realtor with Max Broock, a
lawyer and former state representative. Mr. Haran is a retired
assessor and Mrs. Aulgur is a realtor, developer and Independence
Township commercial property owner.
2010 July Board of Review
The Board of Review will be meeting on Tuesday July 20, 2010 by
appointment to review Poverty Exemptions, Principal Residence
Exemptions, & Assessor Corrections only. Appeals for your
Assessed Value can only go to the March Board of Review.
2010 December Board of Review
The Board of Review will be meeting on Tuesday December 14, 2010
by appointment to review Poverty Exemptions, Principal Residence
Exemptions, & Assessor Corrections only. Appeals for your
Assessed Value can only go to the March Board of Review.
